Aspens are often photographed for their leaves but the tree’s strength comes from its trunk. The aspen trunks were the focus of this photograph. As I composed the photo, I was reminded of this verse from 2 Timothy 4:17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength.
“But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength.” ~2 Timothy 4:17
Story: While wandering around Bassam Park, Colorado, just east of Browns Canyon National Monument, I found this area with mature aspen trees. I composed three aspen trunks that stood out from the rest of the aspen grove. Typically, when photographing trees, the focus is on the leaves. This time, my attention was drawn to the trunks. It can be easy to overlook the beauty of the foundation because the aspen leaves are so beautiful. However, the foundation is where the tree’s strength comes from and I wanted to focus only on the trunks.
